Academic Head

We are on the search for a passionate Academic Head to join their team of bright minds. Our perfect person has big shoes to full as they will be responsible for determining the strategic direction for the school’s programme designs across the full and part time courses.

Here are the details:

  • Management responsibilities include: building and developing a diverse and effective team; planning and delegating work effectively; communicating and monitoring performance expectations; motivating and developing direct reports
  • Facilitate engagement within the marketing and marketing academic community, building relationships and ensuring Red & Yellow’s programs are in synch with, and ahead of, industry needs
  • Designs programs and assesses their value and effectiveness
  • Recruit experts and work with them to create new programs and update existing ones
    Oversee development and roll out of custom corporate/organisational training programs
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with the course directors for the full time programs at Red & Yellow
  • Lead, coach and motivate the instructional design and academic coordinator teams including external associates and partners
  • Work with accreditation manager to accredit programs
  • Maintain and develop the eLearning policy and practices that reflect the commitment to high quality standards through the use of technology, ensuring that the highest level of learning strategies and implementation is provided
  • Source external developers to work alongside the internal technical and IT provision and manage the relationship in some instances, maintain oversight of learning technologies including our learner management system
  • Work closely with other teams to manage the sales, delivery and utilisation of e-learning ensuring optimum service delivery in accordance with agreed performance measures
  • Provide input into eLearning design via scripts, narratives and storyboards
    Work with SMEs, developers and graphic designers, both internally and externally
  • Identify business opportunities, visit potential clients, write proposals and make sales presentations
  • Deliver face to face training as and when required on various marketing and communications topics

Experience needed:

  • 6+ years management experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in curriculum design across marketing and creative programs
  • 4+ years’ experience in an academic environment
  • 4+ years’ experience working with eLearning and instructional design
  • Strong capabilities in presentation and face to face training
  • Experience working in an agency or other marketing function for at least 2 years



  • A Masters degree with a focus on marketing, communications or education
  • Doctorate advantageous
