Three easy routes to the Baxter Theatre during the Two Oceans Marathon 2025 road closures
We’re so excited to celebrate your graduation on Saturday 5 April, and while there may be a bit of traffic or an alternative route to be taken, there’s no doubt it will be a day packed with joy and inspiration. The Baxter Theatre is located near UCT in Rondebosch, and road closures on Main Road (M4), Rhodes Drive, and parts of the M3 will affect access.
Below is a simple guide for the best routes to take.
For the afternoon session all roads will be open but there may be some residual congestion.
1. From the CBD, Atlantic Seaboard, Hout Bay & Northern Suburbs (Durbanville, Bellville, Parow, Goodwood, etc).
Best Route: N1 → M5 → N2→ Main Road → Burg Rd → Dedicated Parking
- Take M5 and Settlers Way/N2 to Main Rd/M4 in Mowbray.
- From the N1 follow signs for M5/Muizenberg.
- Take exit 9B to merge onto Settlers Way/N2 toward Cape Town.
- Take exit 7 for M4/Main Road.
- Follow Main Rd/M4 to Burg Rd in Rondebosch.
- From Burg Rd head to dedicated parking.
Note: If you’re travelling from Hout Bay, proceed through the CBD to the N1 as Constantia Nek/Rhodes Drive will be closed.
Why? This avoids closures on Main Road (M4) & Rhodes Drive and bypassing marathon routes.
2. From Southern Suburbs (Claremont, Wynberg, Tokai, Constantia, etc.).
Best Route: M3 → Anzio Rd → Main Road → Burg Rd → Dedicated Parking
- Head northeast on Rhodes Dr/M3.
- Take exit 5A on the right toward Observatory (Anzio Rd).
- Turn right into Main Rd (M4).
- Turn right onto Burg Rd.
- From Burg Rd head to dedicated parking.
Why? This avoids congestion on Woolsack Drive.
3. From the Eastern parts of Cape Town, Stellenbosch & Somerset West.
Best Route: N2→Main Road → Burg Rd → Dedicated Parking
- Take the Settlers Way N2 to Main Rd/M4 in Mowbray.
- Take exit 7 for M4/Main Road.
- Follow Main Rd/M4 to Burg Rd in Rondebosch.
- From Burg Rd head to dedicated parking.
Why? Avoids congestion on Woolsack Drive.
