Graduation – Class of 2024

Here’s your guide to your graduation ceremony on 5 April 2025, hosted at the Baxter Theatre.

Take note of each important step and follow the instructions below

WHAT TO DO BEFORE ARRIVAL

Before you arrive at the Baxter, ensure that you have completed the following:

  • Submitted your RSVP by Friday 21 March latest. With no RSVP, you will not be permitted to enter the venue. You can RSVP at the link here.
  • Submitted all your certified documents (if you know you have not submitted all relevant documents)
  • Ensure your fees are up to date
  • Complete and submit this gown rental form to Academic Apparel. Take note that this is at your own expense. You will need to bring a R300 cash deposit for your gown, hood and cap which will be repaid to you when you return your rental. You will also need to pay a hiring fee of R290 (This does not apply to bursary students), either in cash, by card or EFT on the morning of your graduation. If you’re a bursary student, you will need to hand in your ID, which will be handed back to you when you return your rental.
  • If you are a partial bursary student, please be aware that the cost of gown hiring and rental will be at your expense
  • Book your official photographs with our photographic partner Nickay

Take note of your arrival time below. Please arrive 60 minutes before the start of graduation:

For 10am session arrive by 9am
For 2pm session arrive by 1pm

WHAT TO DO ON ARRIVAL

STEP 1:
On arrival, register with your Programme Administrators

STEP 2:
Collect gown rental, cap and hood together with your refundable R300 cash deposit. If you are a bursary student, you will hand in your ID, which will be handed back to you when you return your rental.

STEP 3:
Line up for final registration checks by 9:45am for the 10am ceremony, and 1:45pm for the 2pm ceremony

Graduate procession will commence followed by Academics procession into the hall.

CEREMONY PROCESS FOR HIGHER CERTIFICATES

Step 1:
Walk up once your name is called with your sash placed over your left forearm

Step 2:
Shake hands + collect certificate scroll (smile for the camera)

Step 3:
Walk across stage, hand over your sash to your lecturer who will place it on you (smile for the camera again)

Step 4:
Exit stage and walk right up the stairs to the back of the theatre to capture one more photo and return to your seat

Step 5:
At the end of the session, every student will go up on stage for a group photo.

CEREMONY PROCESS FOR DEGREES

Step 1:
Walk up once your name is called with your sash placed over your left forearm

Step 2:
Shake hands and collect certificate scroll (smile for the camera)

Step 3:
Bow to be capped by Head of Academics, Carmen Schaefer

Step 4:
Hand over your sash to your lecturer who will place it on you (smile for camera again)

Step 5:
Exit stage and walk right up the stairs to the back of the theatre to capture one more photo and return to your seat

Step 6:
At the end of the session, every student will go up on stage for a group photo.

CEREMONY PROCESS FOR ADVANCED DIPLOMAS

Step 1:
Walk up once your name is called with your sash placed over your left forearm

Step 2:
Shake hands and collect certificate scroll (smile for the camera)

Step 3:
Hand over your sash to your lecturer who will place it on you (smile for camera again)

Step 4:
Exit stage and walk right up the stairs to the back of the theatre to capture one more photo and return to your seat

Step 5:
At the end of the session, every student will go up on stage for a group photo.
