What you learn
In your first year, you'll learn the fundamentals, and the course remains a practical one, based mostly on project work. A typical project is 1-3 weeks from brief to hand-in and you will usually complete these projects in a team. You'll be given written assignments and you'll write a personal, weekly blog to sharpen your writing skills.
On the copywriting course you'll learn all the skills you'll need as a copywriter in the advertising industry, including conceptual thinking, how to apply your ideas to integrated campaigns, the craft of writing copy for all channels, and presentation skills.
In the 2nd year, application of key practical skills will see you team up with Art Directors to produce several advertising campaigns for real clients who will attend the presentations. The areas your skill will be applied to are the following.

How you learn
Regular talks by guest speakers, accomplished creative leaders in the industry, will benefit you and form the basis of your skills development. Many presentation skills workshops help bring you out of your shell and develop confident strides to navigate agency life. Course lecturers guide students with practical feedback for every project.
You will work on at least ten projects in the second year and finally put together a portfolio of your best work.
At Red & Yellow, we'll train you so that once you graduate, you're able to hit the ground running in your first job. That's because your training involves practical projects, which include briefs from real clients. This valuable experience gives you a taste of what's it's like in the industry, and the confidence to contribute from day one.

Fees & Application
Diploma in Copywriting (2 year course)
R 69 900.00 Per Annum (2017)
NOTE: In the case of 2 & 3 year courses, fees will increase by approximately 10% annually, or in accordance with prevailing economic circumstances.
You may make use of the Extended Credit Payment Plan. First payment due 31 January 2017 followed by eleven equal monthly payments of R 6 800.00 (7% admin surcharge).
The final date for registration and payment of fees for the 2017 course is January 31, 2017. Students who have not paid their fees by this date will not be eligible to start their course in 2017.
A non-refundable fee of R 300, 00 should accompany each completed application form. Credit card payment facility is available; only online or by EFT (Banking Details on last page).
A non-refundable registration fee R 6000,00 must be paid. This registration fee is to reserve your place on the course and you will forfeit it should you elect not to attend.
Note: The non-refundable registration fee does not form part of the tuition fees. Should you elect not to complete the course, you will be liable for fifty percent of the following semester’s tuition fees. (This is because it is impossible for us to fill a vacancy once the course has begun.)
The Red & Yellow School is a privately run organisation and receives no state funding. The majority of income is generated by student fees and remunerations from commissioned projects.
Your fees are therefore payable in advance and you may choose from the following methods of payment:
You may pay the full year’s fees by January 31, 2017, in which case you will be entitled to the following discount:

Should you fail to complete the course due to inadequate levels of performance, you will not be liable for fifty percent of the following semester’s tuition fees, but you will forfeit your deposit.

Your complete application must include the following:
- Your R300 application fee
- Your completed enrolment form & skills test
- A certified copy of your ID / passport (for international students)
- A certified copy of your high school certificate/highest qualification, or the transcripts of your current course of study
