A brand used to be something a company owned and controlled. It isn't anymore. Between social platforms, review sites, creator culture and fragmented micro-communities, what a brand means is now decided largely by the people who use it, talk about it, and post about it. Brand management is the work of shaping that meaning deliberately rather than leaving it to chance.
Over 11 weeks you'll learn the discipline end to end. You'll learn to read how contemporary consumers actually build brand value, to organise a portfolio through brand architecture, to construct identity and positioning that hold up under competitive pressure, and to build the equity that turns recognition into preference. From there you'll move into practice: activating a brand, planning a launch, growing it in saturated markets, and using AI responsibly for insight, content and experience. You'll finish by producing a complete brand portfolio of your own.
What you learn is drawn from the frameworks brand practitioners use internationally, applied to the conditions brands actually operate in now.
Brands have been around for centuries, but what they do and how they work has changed more in the last twenty years than the two hundred before it. This module traces that shift, from trademarks and mass production through to purpose-driven brands competing for attention in fragmented digital markets. You'll learn where branding ends and brand management begins, how marketing supports both, and how contemporary consumers create brand value through the brand value chain.
