Good design gets out of the way. When a website feels obvious or an app just makes sense, that ease was built on purpose by someone who understood how people think, what they need, and where they get stuck. That work is user experience design, and this course teaches you how to do it.
Over 11 weeks you'll build the discipline from the foundations up. You'll learn to research what users actually need rather than what they claim to, to organise information so people can find their way without thinking about it, to design interfaces and interactions in low fidelity, and to test your decisions against real behaviour instead of trusting your instincts. You'll work the way UX teams work, moving from research through structure and design to evaluation, and you'll finish by building a complete UX case study of your own.
What you'll learn is grounded in how UX is practised in industry, so the way you research, design, and justify a user experience here is the way it's done in product teams everywhere.
Before you can design good experiences, you need to understand what makes an experience good in the first place. This module covers the core principles of user-centred design, why UX matters to both people and businesses, and where it fits in the process of building digital products. You will finish with a clear sense of what UX actually is and the language to talk about it with confidence.
