Carmen Schaefer

Head of Academics

Carmen began her career as a graphic designer in the fast-paced world of advertising. Since then she has been lucky enough to have been involved in the education of South Africa’s most talented young creatives for the past 20 years. She currently leads the academic team at Red & Yellow and is committed to growing Red & Yellow into the most creative business school in the world. She also authors the annual employability report.

Gail Schimmel

Knowledge Partner

Gail Schimmel is the CEO of the Advertising Regulatory Board. She has a BA (Hon) LLB LLM and is admitted as an attorney. She has worked as a law lecturer and head of department, an attorney and a Director at a Big Five firm. Her advertising law involvement dates back to the early 2000s, when she worked for the ASA, becoming Head of Legal and 2IC. She left the ASA for legal practice and, after having babies, to work as a consultant. She returned to the ASA and helped found the ARB in 2018. She is the author of the definitive textbook on Advertising law, and a number of bestselling South African novels.
